New Army! - Necrons

The Dynasties Overlord takes aim with his deadly Tachyon Arrow

Well once again I have been unable to resist the call of a new army. This time its the Necrons!

They Slumber No More...

"...Metal-Skin of the blackest hue, all marching towards us. They are an army of the damned, indeed. Their soulless gazes were fixed on us, unflinching, uncompromising, merciless. Oh, Emperor, save us all..."

Heresy Era Alpha Legion update!

I put my 30k Alpha Legion army on hold over Christmas as, well, I didn't really have the time for much hobby sadly. Now that I'm back at University though I've finally got a bit more free time (ironically) to work on painting the army and so I've decided to start on the Cataphractii Terminators that come in the Betrayal at Calth set.

Tau - Urban Defence Force

Hello again, as a follow up to my last post I will now explain my plans for my new army, the Tau. As the title would indicate I have decided to create an Urban Defence Force who, fluff wise, would be deployed into cities as either a defence force or, if necessary, an assault force. My reason behind this decison is simple; I have always liked the aesthetics of the Tua models and the release of the new Codex coupled with the starter bundle has finally convinced me to build an army.

I will be using the contents of the 'Start Collecting! Tau' box set as the starting point for the army. This is due to the great value of the box set as I explained in one of my previous posts. From this point I intend to expand to a small force of 500 points for the moment, using the contents of the box set as the formation it comes with as well as a small unbound detachment to round it up to 500 points.

Corvus Corax, Dark Fury Assault Squad, and Legion disparity

The Raven Lord in all his glory

Well Corvus Corax, the Raven Lord, Primarch of the XIX legion or 'Raven Guard', has gone up for pre-order and I gotta say the model looks incredible!

Starting a new 40k army - Start Collecting!

With the release of the new 'Start Collecting! (Insert Chosen Army)' boxed sets by Games Workshop I have decided to start on a new project, namely, the Tau Empire.

Before I talk about the new army I will be building I really need to point out how good value these boxed sets are and this post will be deidicated to that. If we're to look at just the ones for 40k, the factions currently included in the 'Start Collecting!' range are the; Astra Militarum, Skitarii, Tyranids, Necrons, Space Marines, and, of course, the Tau Empire.

Alpha Legion Chaplin Finished!

I'm a huge fan of the Chaplin model

After the horrors of attempting to batch paint it was such a relief to go back to painting one model at a time. Even though he wont be in the final force, I decided to paint the Chaplin from the Betrayal at Calth box-set.

First Veteran Tactical Squad Finished!

First Squad Finished!

Well after temporarily abandoning my preferred method of painting, I did the the remaining 7 marines from this Veteran Tactical Squad in one go...

Painting in an Assembly line format

In an effort to speed up my painting as atm I have something like 40+ models to paint, I've decided to, instead of painting them one at a time as I usually do, to paint a whole bunch of models at once. I usually prefer to do them one at a time as I then feel like I can take my time on it but it does, as a result, take forever...

Leviathan Siege Dreadnought Rules Analysis - Part 1: Basic Overview and Special Rules

Okay so last time I gave a rundown of the background behind the Leviathan and now will be giving a review of its 30k rules and going over some of its potential tactical uses. Oh and I'll be throwing in the occasional fluff justification as well for some of Leviathan's rules/weapons. I plan to spread the review out over a few posts and focus on a different aspect of the models rules each time. I do warn you in advance that there will be a lot of reading!

Leviathan Siege Dreadnought Model/Fluff

The Leviathan Siege Dreadnought in all its awesomeness

Okay I want to start of by saying how amazing this model looks! I've always been a huge fan of the Space Marine Dreadnoughts and the fluff behind them but the Leviathan is definitely my favourite. I don't actually like the standard Dreadnought you can buy in your local store as its far too boxy and its size is scaled down a lot.

Proxying Models

Miniwargaming Shenanigans

Personally I'm not a fan of proxying models, I mean I'm of course okay with the odd flamer being used as a meltagun and so on but when it starts to get to whole units and especially large models then it can be annoying. I remember seeing a Space Marine player trying to convince his opponent to allow him to use a half-assembled Nephilim Jetfighter as a Stormraven, needless to say his opponent was having none of it.

I know people might just want to try out a certain unit or model that they don't own. I can completely understand this I just find it tends to break the immersion of the game and can be frustrating, especially when you forget the model being used is supposed to be another unit altogether.

The Start Of The Legion

So following the release of Betrayal at Calth I have built one of the Veteran Tactical Squads as well as the Contemptor Dreadnought and the Captain in Cataphractii Pattern Terminator Armour. I've decided not to assemble all of the models at once as otherwise I will take even longer than normal to paint them than usual. I am probably one of the worlds slowest painters as I managed to do the Dreadnought, Captain, and the Sergeant from the Veteran Tactical Squad in four days which is a pretty good going for me tbh.

If only I could afford multiple boxes of this...

Welcome!

Well after spending the better part of 2 hours fiddling with the various different customisation options for a blog, and nearly throwing my laptop out of the window in frustration, I've come to the conclusion that I'm either a moron, or the Omnissiah has it in for me. Like you'd think it'd be super easy, I mean all it it choosing which settings you like the most and then hitting the apply button but nooo, instead I spend 20 minutes just attempting to get the bloody background to go transparent...
