Corvus Corax, Dark Fury Assault Squad, and Legion disparity

The Raven Lord in all his glory

Well Corvus Corax, the Raven Lord, Primarch of the XIX legion or 'Raven Guard', has gone up for pre-order and I gotta say the model looks incredible!

Starting a new 40k army - Start Collecting!

With the release of the new 'Start Collecting! (Insert Chosen Army)' boxed sets by Games Workshop I have decided to start on a new project, namely, the Tau Empire.

Before I talk about the new army I will be building I really need to point out how good value these boxed sets are and this post will be deidicated to that. If we're to look at just the ones for 40k, the factions currently included in the 'Start Collecting!' range are the; Astra Militarum, Skitarii, Tyranids, Necrons, Space Marines, and, of course, the Tau Empire.

Leviathan Siege Dreadnought Rules Analysis - Part 1: Basic Overview and Special Rules

Okay so last time I gave a rundown of the background behind the Leviathan and now will be giving a review of its 30k rules and going over some of its potential tactical uses. Oh and I'll be throwing in the occasional fluff justification as well for some of Leviathan's rules/weapons. I plan to spread the review out over a few posts and focus on a different aspect of the models rules each time. I do warn you in advance that there will be a lot of reading!

Leviathan Siege Dreadnought Model/Fluff

The Leviathan Siege Dreadnought in all its awesomeness

Okay I want to start of by saying how amazing this model looks! I've always been a huge fan of the Space Marine Dreadnoughts and the fluff behind them but the Leviathan is definitely my favourite. I don't actually like the standard Dreadnought you can buy in your local store as its far too boxy and its size is scaled down a lot.

Proxying Models

Miniwargaming Shenanigans

Personally I'm not a fan of proxying models, I mean I'm of course okay with the odd flamer being used as a meltagun and so on but when it starts to get to whole units and especially large models then it can be annoying. I remember seeing a Space Marine player trying to convince his opponent to allow him to use a half-assembled Nephilim Jetfighter as a Stormraven, needless to say his opponent was having none of it.

I know people might just want to try out a certain unit or model that they don't own. I can completely understand this I just find it tends to break the immersion of the game and can be frustrating, especially when you forget the model being used is supposed to be another unit altogether.

The Start Of The Legion

So following the release of Betrayal at Calth I have built one of the Veteran Tactical Squads as well as the Contemptor Dreadnought and the Captain in Cataphractii Pattern Terminator Armour. I've decided not to assemble all of the models at once as otherwise I will take even longer than normal to paint them than usual. I am probably one of the worlds slowest painters as I managed to do the Dreadnought, Captain, and the Sergeant from the Veteran Tactical Squad in four days which is a pretty good going for me tbh.

If only I could afford multiple boxes of this...

Welcome!

Well after spending the better part of 2 hours fiddling with the various different customisation options for a blog, and nearly throwing my laptop out of the window in frustration, I've come to the conclusion that I'm either a moron, or the Omnissiah has it in for me. Like you'd think it'd be super easy, I mean all it it choosing which settings you like the most and then hitting the apply button but nooo, instead I spend 20 minutes just attempting to get the bloody background to go transparent...
